Sennheiser's excellent headphones are fully balanced units, capable of outstanding performance when run with a balanced headphone amplifier and balanced cable.  The stock cable can also be upgraded for better, fuller sound.  We offer silver-Teflon upgraded standard and balanced cables for certain Sennheiser models.  Our Sennheiser cables are made of substantial Aerospace/ Military type stranded copper wire, with silver plating on each strand.  They also feature Teflon insulation.  These cables fit the Sennheiser models with dual prong headset connections, including the HD414, HD420, HD430, HD525, HD545, HD565, HD580, HD600 and HD650.  Our silver-plated Teflon wire is far thicker and more conductive than the hair-thin wire that comes with the headphones.  Move up to a silver-Teflon headphone cable for the best listening experience.

Wire Selection.

You may choose Standard or Heavy silver-plated-copper wire with Teflon insulation.  The 20 AWG (Heavy) wire is massive compared to most headphone wire.  This wire provides superior conductivity but is more rigid (less flexible) than most headphone wires.  The wire can be bent easily but tends to hold its shape when bent.  It is suitable for home listening but not for travel or active lifestyle purposes (such as working out).  For a more flexible wire, our standard offering is 24 AWG (Standard) silver-plated-copper wire with Teflon insulation.  This wire is still thicker in gauge than most hair-thin headphone wires, and uses optimal Teflon insulation for reduced capacitance.  However the "Standard" wire is very flexible, lighter and with a looser weave.   It will not hold its shape and is suitable for working out or other active uses.  It sacrifices a small amount of performance for physical utility.  In fact we recommend this wire for use in balanced mode headphone cables as the sound quality of the rigid Heavy wire is only slightly better than the Standard wire (in our view).

PonoPlayer Balanced Mode Termination (Dual 3.5mm) to Sennheiser Dual Prong. 

Our P-01 line of PonoPlayer cables provides a very high quality balanced mode output from the PonoPlayer to your Sennheiser headphones such as the HD414, HD420, HD430, HD525, HD545, HD565, HD580, HD600 and HD650.  These cables allow the highest possible quality connection for your high resolution Pono player files, balanced output to balanced headphones.  They consist of dual 3.5mm Neutrik plugs which connect into the Pono player dual outputs, and Sennheiser dual prong plugs for your headphones.  They are made with silver plated copper wire and Teflon insulation, like our other cables. If you are considering a pono player cable, please consider the mating P-04 Adapter cable (described on the Pono Player cable page), to allow an easy connection from the Pono Player jacks on this cable to a standard headphone jack.

The P-01A cable has lightly marked "L" and "R" on the headset connectors, as well as + and - indicators.  Connect the cable so that these markings face the outside of the headphones on the Left and Right as indicated. Note the tiny pins are different sizes so these only fit one way. 

Due to popular demand, we build "standard" cables fully sleeved for most 4 and 5 foot cables (standard wire only).  These cables use full (soft, cloth like) sleeving along the entire cable with no exposed wire.

The "Heavy" cables have exposed insulation from the twisted wires at each end. 

 Upgraded Sennheiser Headphone Cables.

We also offer the S-02B which features a balanced 4 pin male XLR connector on one end and the Sennheiser connectors on the other.  Use this cable to connect your Sennheiser headphones to specialty headphone amplifiers with 4 pin female outputs.  

Plush Sleeving.

We now use a black soft "plush" braiding for reduced microphnics and improved flexibilty.  This is a nylon cloth-like sleeving that feels like fabric, yet is rugged.

Adapter Cables.

If you already have a balanced Sennheiser cable, you may be interested in our adapter cables, which can convert a balanced output from 3 or 4 pin XLRs or a PonoPlayer into the type of connection on your headphone cable.  If so, email us.

It makes sense to get a package deal for your Sennehiser headphones. They are natively balanced and can be connected to a variety of sources in a variety of ways.

Sennheiser 650 Balanced Package:  This includes:  (a) 4 pin male XLR connector to Senneheiser (dual prong) cable (plush sleeving, 4 feet, Standard 24 AWG wire) and, (b) adapter consisting of 3.5mm stereo plug to 4 pin female XLR connector (plush sleeving, 1 foot, 24 AWG wire).  This package allows you to connect your Sennheiser headphones to balanced sources via the 4 pin male connector, or traditional unbalanced sources via the adapter. 

Sennheiser 650 Pono Package:  This includes   (a) pono-player (dual 3.5mm) to  Senneheiser (dual prong) cable (plush sleeving, 4 feet, Standard 24 AWG wire) and, (b) adapter consisting of 3.5mm stereo plug to dual 3.5mm female jacks (plush sleeving, 1 foot, 24 AWG wire).  This package allows you to connect your Sennheiser headphones to the PonoPlayer, and also,using the adapter, the headphones can connect to traditional unbalanced sources.
